Questions developers often ask
Hourly billing or fixed price — how does it appear on the invoice?
For hourly work, list the number of hours per line with your rate. Optionally add dates or ticket numbers in the description for traceability. For fixed price, one line with the agreed project amount and the deliverable in the description. Combinations also work: fixed price for the scope, hourly for any extra work.
Hosting and maintenance — invoice with development work or separately?
Separately. Hosting is usually a passthrough (you pay a hosting provider, your client pays you) and maintenance is an ongoing service. Send those as recurring invoices (monthly or quarterly). Development work goes per sprint or per delivery. Splitting them gives your client clarity and you predictable cash flow.
International client inside or outside the EU — how do I handle VAT?
For B2B inside the EU, VAT is often reverse-charged (0% with "VAT reverse charged" and the client's VAT number). For B2B outside the EU, usually 0% without reverse charge. For consumers in the EU it gets more complex — check with your accountant. FactuurSturen.app supports all three scenarios; you pick the rate and the right notation.
