Sending an invoice to a private individual
You delivered something or provided a service to a consumer — not a business. The rules differ slightly from business invoices: VAT is always included in the price, payment terms work differently, and a mandatory free reminder applies if they don't pay. FactuurSturen.app handles it automatically.
What's different with consumers
Price always includes VAT
To consumers you always quote prices including VAT — unlike business invoices where exclusive is standard. FactuurSturen.app displays it correctly.
Mandatory free 14-day reminder
If they don't pay, you must first send a free reminder with a 14-day term before you can charge collection costs. Otherwise those costs are not legally valid.
iDEAL link increases payment rate
Consumers pay much faster when they can click directly. Add a payment QR or iDEAL link to the invoice and the money arrives sooner.

Frequently asked questions
Am I obliged to send an invoice to a consumer?
Not always. For most consumer deliveries you're not legally required. Required for: amounts above €450, delivery of a new vehicle, or when the client explicitly asks. For your records and the client's clarity, sending an invoice is always wise.
Which data is not required on a consumer invoice?
For private individuals you don't need to list a VAT number or KvK number of the client (they usually don't have one). You do need your own KvK, VAT, IBAN and BIC. Rest is the same as a business invoice: date, invoice number, description, amounts.
What's the legal payment term for consumers?
Default 30 days after invoice date — unless you agree otherwise (may be shorter or longer, as long as reasonable). Always mention it on the invoice. In FactuurSturen.app you set your default term once.
Client doesn't pay — what can I do?
First a free reminder with 14-day payment term (mandatory for consumers — otherwise no collection costs possible). Only then may you charge collection costs per the WIK schedule (minimum €40, max depends on invoice amount). FactuurSturen.app sends the first reminder automatically.
May I charge statutory interest from a consumer?
Yes — from the moment the client is in default (after the free 14-day reminder). The statutory interest for consumer transactions is approx. 7% per 2026. Mention this on the second reminder.
