Moneybird alternative? Let's be honest first.

FactuurSturen is not a lighter Moneybird. It's something different. Moneybird is a full accounting suite — VAT filing, bank integration, time tracking, year-end reports. We only do invoices and quotes. Nothing more. For ZZP'ers and freelancers in the Netherlands who leave bookkeeping to their accountant or use a separate tool for it, but want a simple place to invoice from.

What are you looking for?

A full accounting suite

VAT filing, bank integration, year-end reports, time tracking — all in one tool? Then Moneybird (or e-Boekhouden, Exact, SnelStart) fits better. FactuurSturen is not built for that and does not compete with those products.

Just sending invoices

Invoice clients, send reminders when they don't pay, make quotes. Nothing else. That's what FactuurSturen does — as the direct successor to the discontinued Factuursturen.nl, for people who prefer to keep simple what can be simple.

Why people switch from Moneybird to FactuurSturen

Too many features I don't use

Moneybird is built for those who want to run their entire administration. If you use only 5% of it, you're paying for screens you never open and navigating menus that mean nothing to you.

No accounting jargon

No "ledger account", no "journal entry", no "cost categories". In FactuurSturen, an invoice is called an invoice, a client a client, a line a line.

My accountant does the rest

Many people hand their receipts and invoices to an accountant who handles all VAT and year-end work. For them, an accounting suite adds no value — an invoicing tool is enough.

Cheaper for low volume

Moneybird costs €10–€30/month flat. If you send 3 invoices a month? FactuurSturen from €2/month fits better. If you send 200? A flat plan probably fits better.

Frequently asked questions

When is Moneybird the better choice?

If you want to run your entire administration yourself: VAT filing, bank integration, time tracking, year-end reports. Or if you work closely with an accountant who specifically wants a Moneybird integration. Moneybird is a good product — it just doesn't fit those who only want to invoice.

Can I bring my clients over from Moneybird?

Yes. Export your clients and products from Moneybird as CSV and import them into FactuurSturen. Sent invoices stay in Moneybird as archive — you don't need to move them to start with FactuurSturen.

Should my accountant connect to FactuurSturen?

Many accountants work fine with PDF invoices forwarded by email or exported as CSV. If your accountant specifically wants a direct Moneybird integration, that's an argument to stay with Moneybird. Ask first — most accountants are more flexible than you think.

Do I get the same features as Moneybird?

No. Deliberately not. FactuurSturen has no VAT filing, no bank integration, no time tracking, no year-end reports. It does have everything related to invoicing: creating, sending, reminding, quoting, QR code for payment, client database, payment status.

Is this the successor to factuursturen.nl?

Yes. FactuurSturen.app has the same spirit as the discontinued Factuursturen.nl — only invoices and quotes, no accounting suite around them. Many ex-users of factuursturen.nl reluctantly moved to Moneybird after it shut down, found it too much, and ended up here.
